Online in Alberta
Casino Dene and Alberta's Online Market
Alberta now has a regulated online casino market, managed by the Alberta iGaming Corporation and regulated by AGLC. Its rules apply to anyone who plays from Cold Lake, and this page sets them out in order.

Who runs the market
The Alberta iGaming Corporation, known as AiGC, manages the province's online gaming market. The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, AGLC, regulates it. The two roles sit side by side, and an operator answers to both.
To operate legally, an online operator must register with AGLC. It must also sign an operating agreement with AiGC. One step without the other is not enough.
Checking a site first
A directory of registered iGaming sites is kept by AiGC at abigaming.ca/players/registered-igaming-sites. Any operator missing from it falls outside regulation. Authorised operators carry the AiGC logo, which can be verified against that directory.
St. Walburg and other Saskatchewan towns sit closer than Edmonton (St. Walburg is 104.8 km from the casino in a straight line), so one rule matters. Play on a registered operator's site is limited to people who are physically inside Alberta. Nobody outside the province is accepted by Alberta sites.
The province's own site
PlayAlberta.ca, known as Play Alberta, is the online gaming site the province owns, and AGLC operates it. The money it earns flows to the Government of Alberta. Enrolment in AGLC's Self-Exclusion Program is possible only online, through selfexclusion.ca. The person may select racing entertainment centres and casinos in Alberta, regulated online gaming sites, or both. A term can be six months, one year, two years or three years; exclusion begins right away and cannot be ended early.
Where the Ad links lead
Paid links appear only on the home page of this guide, each marked Ad. There are three: a button in the menu, a block below the first screen and a block near the end. They lead to one private online casino partner that pays the guide a commission. The partner is not named here and can change.
This guide does not vouch for it. Any site, the partner included, can be checked in the AiGC directory at abigaming.ca.
Questions by the lake
Can someone in Meadow Lake play on an Alberta site?
Alberta sites accept only players who are physically in Alberta. Meadow Lake is on the Saskatchewan side, 119.5 km from Casino Dene in a straight line, so play from there is outside the rule.
Where can a reader confirm that a site is authorised?
In the AiGC directory of registered iGaming sites, at abigaming.ca/players/registered-igaming-sites. An operator missing from that directory is not regulated. Approved operators also display the AiGC logo.
Which body operates Play Alberta?
Alberta also has a site of its own: Play Alberta, at PlayAlberta.ca, operated by AGLC. The money it brings in is paid to the Government of Alberta.
